Day 5 of the 21 Day Challenge

The challenge for Day 5 of the 21 Days to Getting Organized Challenge was to organize under the sink.  Well, I tackled this project about 2 weeks ago, so I tried to find something that I didn't think Toni would use in the rest of the challenge.  I decided to clean my movie bookshelves.  I normally have all of my movies in alphabetical order.  However, I have let the order go to the pooper.  Not only that, but have I not dusted in forever (and all of you who have cats know how often dusting is needed).  After saying all of that, lets just say I thought today would be a good time to clean/organize my shelves.

Ahhh I feel so much better!  I am loving how organized my house is getting.  Eriks has even made a comment that he is happy I am doing this challenge.  He keeps saying how great the house is looking.  It makes me happy :)  Thanks Toni for the inspiration!

Day 4 of the 21 Day Challenge

It is Day 4 of the 21 Days to Getting Organized Challenge.   Today's project was our linen closet.  Well... my linen closet consists of a blue box that used to be Eriks' toy box when he was a child and a old duffel bag.  To start today's challenge, I brought my duffel bag downstairs to our blue box.

I did so much donating!  I didn't realize how many twin sheets I have.  I haven't had a twin bed in over 2 years.  Why did I still hang on to those?  Well I was able to fit everything into the blue box.  I was so excited!

Here is the organized after pic:

All Done!  This was an easy day!  I can't wait to see what challenge Toni has waiting for me tomorrow!

Now all we need to do is repaint and to fix the lid..... Oh well that is another days project.

Day 3 of the 21 Day Challenge

Yesterday was Day 3 of the 21 Days to Getting Organized Challenge.  The task for day 3 was the Tupperware cabinet.  Well since my kitchen is actually a kitchenette (oh the joys of tiny apartment living) I only have 1 cupboard for all of my cooking/Tupperware needs.  It was crazy disorganized.  It took me a while, but I accomplished organization.  I did this late last night, but was so tired I just didn't have enough energy to post this blog, so I a doing it today.  Well here we go:

The next step was to empty it all out and clean the cupboard:
Can you tell where I was sitting haha?

Finally Done!

Day 2 of the 21 Day Challenge

It is day 2 of the 21 Days to Getting Organized Challenge.  Today the challenge placed before us was the top of our desks.  Now, I do have a desk, but it my sewing, crafting, writing desk.  I figured that would do just fine.  I am a little ashamed to actually post the before picture but here goes...

Horrible right!? (and yes that is a cheese head GO PACKERS!)  I don't know how I get so much done here!  Well I think today's challenge was perfect for me!  The first step to tackling this monstrosity was to clear everything off the desk and hang my homemade bulletin board up (which has been sitting un-hung for months).

After that was step two; organizing my three little boxes:

Box 1 (crafting stuff) Before

Box 1 (crafting stuff) After
Now I know it doesn't look all that organized but it really is

Box 2 (stationary stuff) Before

Box 2 (stationary stuff) After

Box 3 (my cards) Before

Box 3 (my cards) After

After that task, I put all of my pictures and things on my bulletin board.

Then the final step was upon me dun dun dun!  I put everything that didn't belong on the desk away and then put everything that did belong on the desk back and then..... PRESTO!

My organized desk!  I am ready for Day 3!

Sundays Project

So... with the 21 day challenge, we take Sundays off.  Well I just couldn't do it.  I was dieing to organize something.  I have been wanting to go through Eriks and I's closet for a while now, and Sunday afternoon I just couldn't take the clutter anymore.  I forgot to take a before picture but here some pictures of the donation pile.  It was crazy how much we donated, but I think that is a good thing!

The pile and all of the newly free hangers

The Pile

I couldn't believe how much space we had after all of the clothes that we don't wear anymore were out of the closet.  The biggest shock was how little Eriks' has to wear!  Look and the amount of clothes hanging on his side!  It is crazy!  Looks like we need to go shopping! :)

Day 1 of the 21 Day Challenge

It is Day 1 of the 21 Days to Getting Organized Challenge and boy am I excited!  Today's challenge was to organize the junk drawer.  I really don't have a "junk drawer" per say, but I practically use the silverware drawer as my junk drawer.  And man did it need some organizing so I chose to organize that.

Here is the before picture:

And After:

I bought some square tuperware from Ikea to keep track of things like watter bottle tops, measuring spoons and small utensils.  I also used 2 more of the same square tuperware to wrangle in all of my tea lights and matches.  I am so happy with the way this drawer came out!  I can't wait until tomorrows challenge!

Happy New Year!

It is officially

1-1-11

HAPPY NEW YEARS!

I want to wish everyone a very happy and prosperous 2011!  I hope you have all decided on your New Years Resolutions because today is the day to have them decided upon.  I have four New Years Resolutions this year and would like to share them with you all.
    1. To pay off my credit card and line of credit
    2. To follow my IBS diet better so that I don't get sick as often
    3. To start going to church again
    4. To keep my house and life more organized
To help myself achieve these goals I have come up with a battle plan.

  • To pay off my debt, I am going to put $100 away every month and by the end of the year I will have them both paid off.
  • To follow my IBS diet better, I am going to work on planning my meals out and making sure I have gotten all of the ingredients from the store so that I can make our meals from scratch.
  • To start going back to church, I just stop being so nervous and to just put myself out there
  • To keep my house and life more organized, I am using a planner I got for Christmas from Falon, I am going to work on putting things away when I am done using them, and I am going to concentrate on ways I can make the space I have more efficient.
To help me with my third resolution, I am participating in A Bowl Full of Lemons 21 Day Challenge.  So every day for the next 21 days, she will give me a challenge, and I will blog about it.  Wish me luck!
